MAY 2020

Coronavirus Update

Here are the Coronavirus figures as of 11 May 2020:

  • 23,135 cases
  • 1,467 deaths

More importantly:

  • 21,929 people recovered -- Hooray!

As we see daily cases drop it is important that we continue to respect the rules of social distancing and restrictions currently in place.

On 18 May we will enter Phase 1 of the roadmap to reopen Ireland.

I am cautiously optimistic that we will be able to complete the 5 stages without any delays or having to go back to previous stages.

Work from home tip: Pomodoro Technique

Today I would like to introduce you to a productivity hack called the Pomodoro Technique.

Pomodoro Technique helps you increase your output by combining highly focused work with regular breaks.

To get going with Pomodoro Technique first specify a task and then work on it in for 25 minutes. After this period you are allowed to take a 5 minute break. Repeat this cycle four times, then take a longer 15 minute break. To measure the time you can use a timer, a stopwatch or one of many Pomodoro Technique apps available in your app store.

I have used the Pomodoro Technique in the past and I am now trying to reintroduce it into my routine. I have found it to be extremely useful when it comes to awareness of how long it takes to complete tasks. Another benefit of using this method is a reminder to take regular breaks. In this way I can stay fresh and focused for longer. (Link to Wikipedia)
